Hadleigh Castle Crop Circle

A crop circle has turned up near to the ancient monument of Hadleigh Castle, Hadleigh in Essex

Updated 9th August 2005: Photo's added!

Passers-by and visitors at Hadleigh Castle have spotted a new Crop Circle in the field opposite.

Here is the story as reported in the Southend Evening Echo:

Electrician Greg Townsend, 21, of Common Lane, Thundersley, spied the strange phenomenon when he was out walking his dog. He said: "I go down there every day to walk the dog and I saw it straight away. It's quite big and you can see it in the field. It's a big circle which looks like it has been trampled down, with another ring outside it, which is linked to a smaller circle.

"I don't know how it got there - it's weird. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like this."

Crop circles are a phenomenon which have captured the public imagination since the 1970s. Many people believe they may be caused by aliens trying to communicate with man, while cynics believe they are the work of pranksters.

August 9th 2005, I went to Hadleigh Castle and took a few pics of the crop circle, the pictures can be seen in the Gallery
