Sightings of a large black cat have been reported in the West Hanningfield area of Essex. Nineteen year old Marek Cerny first spotted 'The Beast' on the 14th August and then again on the 5th September. On the first occasion Marek was fortunate enough to take a few photographs of the cat, however he didn't have his camera with him on the second occasion.

Essex Police have confirmed they are "investigating sightings of a large cat at West Hanningfield in August and again on September 5". An Essex Police spokesman also said photos of similar sightings can be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Essex, along with many other parts of the UK have had many reported sightings of alien big cats (ABC's) over the years, probably the best known of these sightings is 'The Beast Of Bodmin'.

Such sightings are usually put down to misidentification of large domestic cats or escaped zoo/circus animals. Another valid theory for some of these sightings is that they are actual big cats that have been released by their owners, who are unable or unwilling to comply with the UK regulations concerning big cats.

Have you seen the 'Beast Of Billericay' or another ABC? Let us know email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
